Wound Care - Registered Practical Nurse - Part-Time

Salary: $36.71 to $39.02

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Program Manager of the Staffing Resource Team, and working alongside the Professional Practice team, the Wound Care Nurse works collaboratively with the Interprofessional Health Care Team in the provision of quality care as it relates to wound prevention and healing. The provision of such nursing care is expected to be within the Standards of Nursing Practice (CNO) and the standards of Brockville General Hospital.

The Wound Care Nurse provides wound care assessments and recommendations for patients receiving care within the organization. Support and teaching for inpatients and their families and acts as the resource person for members of the health care team for those inpatients with complex skin and wound care needs.  The Wound Care Nurse is consulted to monitor and evaluate the condition of inpatients requiring skin, or wound care.

The Wound Care Nurse is expected to maintain competence and skills through on-going participation in continuing education and will be able to demonstrate proof of such participation. The Wound Care Nurse actively participates in CNO Quality Assurance Program.  The Wound Care Nurse actively participates in in-service and hospital-wide activities and programs that model and promote a safe and healthy patient and family-centered environment and that contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives.

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required.
  • Completion of an accredited Wound, Ostomy and Continence Care Program is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant skin and would care experience.
  • Member of the Nurse Specialized Wound Ostomy Continence Canada (NSWOCC) preferred.
  • Current B.C.L.S.

  • Ability to demonstrate strong clinical decision making
  • Ability to document comprehensive assessment parameters and treatment recommendations
  • Ability to work quickly, independently and adapt to a variety of situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of an interprofessional team.
  • Good attendance and availability required.
